2 operators active in plain voice tfc + Telematik-Set TmS-430 FSK 110Bd/337Hz modem (zero beat) – measured with SA at 220Bd (but here and here)

TmS-430 messages were encrypted as the voice coordination contained some codes to decode the messages, the operator said.
Callsigns: « SIMBA » & « THERMOS »

The PTT release tone, usually heard from the Swiss:

Note: this is not the main frequency, the operator mentionned it. They were waiting for the « Valaisans » to come on the calling frequency (not found yet)

Lorient Ecole (French Navy) RTTY tests

Today, I’ve heard some tests between « Lorient Ecole » & « vf »
Manual sent Baudot 75/850/i (offset +1400Hz) on 6721.0 USB then 5455.0 USB with plain voice coordination

« le » & « vf » were linked using another radiolink as « Lorient Ecole » operator voice has been heard in vf transmission

The Baudot on 6721.0 USB:

vf vf vf

The Baudot on 5455.0 USB:

I have no idea who « vf » station is, perhaps a CEPA/10S unit
quick note: qwerty keyboards (azerty ones usually in France)

Marconi 25-tone modem activity

update: net active on 6873.5 USB as well (October, 31)

Tonight a station is sending some bursts on 3898.5 USB
It’s the first time I copied that modem, which is not a really recent technology..
And I have no idea which MIL is still using it.

FUG La Régine (Saissac, FR)

During last summer holidays, I had the opportunity to drive nearby the French Navy HF site named « La Régine »

Here is a far pic of the site, viewed from North, with « Les Pyrénées » mountains in the background
FUG_0001

I had bought a HF/RX there so I was able to confirm all those frequencies & modes:
FUG_slots

Note: some frequencies of that list are already not active anymore and/or mode has changed between RATT & S4285.. Those guys are working hard on setting up/down datalinks it seems..

Fore information: Taiwanese navy guys have changed their 2G ALE IDs in 2015..

ALE IDs logged so far:
BAAKG – BBRDA – BCQOW – BJVQF – BWFGG – BGX – BLF – BJVQF – BVWQT

Frequencies logged so far (this year):
14439.0 LSB (mco) – 16000.0 LSB – 16180.0 LSB – 17460.0 LSB – 18035.0 LSB (Nico)

They are sending 2x special AMD commands in their ALE net:
[AMD]AMDCHAT16 triggers [AMD] chat
[AMD]FAXDATA CK triggers MIL-STD 188-110 serial modem

Note the very weird syntax of those AMD texts.. purpose ?
PS: some informations in that post comes from Nico, mco & Eddy (wunclub irc users)

French Navy STANAG-4285 streams (replacing FSK-2)

I have noticed this weekend that the usual FSK-2 sent by the French Navy are no longer in use, looks like they were replaced by STANAG-4285 @ 600L (crypto.. of course..)

Those STANAG-4285 are easily recognizable on a waterfall because they have a ticking noise on each edge of the 2400Bd 8-ary waveform as shown on the screenshots below:

FNavy4285
4325.0 USB & 4338.0 USB on this one.

FNavy4285-2
4325.0 USB & 4338.0 USB   &   6430.0 USB on this one.

note1: the ticks aren’t sync..
note2: 8517.0 USB & 16966.0 USB are also impacted by that modification

A quick note about a weird Russian net using .750Hz offsets
Rare traffic modes are CW-FSK & 50Bd/250Hz encrypted Baudot (showing zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz string at the end of crypto data) -see above-

This net is idling 24/7 on « MARK » tone on many freqs at same time.
The MARK tone is located -125Hz from the zero beat, so freqs = xxxxx.625Hz.
This net has some silent periods from time to time but it can be easily identified because of the specific glitches heard on the tone carrier (as shown on the above screenshot) and with the .625Hz steady tone.

PS: Russian origin has been determined by an unique HFDF (direction finding) check by a German guy.
